Soooo... Anybody else up for a speedy middle infielder that makes consistent contact?

Six votes so far and they have all been for different players. Something tells me this is going to be a close one...

Ondrusek. Should at the very least be a solid reliever in the major leagues tomorrow.

I have Ondrusek at 15 ahead of a lot of guys already voted in for that very reason. He's probably one of the least likely guys outside the top ten to become a nothing. Guys like Sulbaran, Mesoraco and Hamilton may never see the big leagues, where Ondrusek is pretty much a guy who can be plugged in. Similar to Carlos Fisher in pevious year's polls in that regard.

Low K rate in his AAA stint last year. Under 5 per game.

Didn't allow walks at AAA which is a good sign, needs a few more Ks to be an effective reliever.

Signed with the Reds in 2008 out of Azul, Dominican Republic. Turned 19 years old in late August. Struckout 30 batters in 25.2 innings with Billings as an 18-year old. Scouting report from Baseball America: 89-93 mph fastball with sinking and tailing action. One scout rated his fastball as a 60 on the 20-80 scale. A 60 makes it a plus offering. His breaking ball features tight rotation and has plus potential, and he also throws a change that has life but is still a work in progress (hopefully Mario Soto is working with him). He sounds similar to Johnny Cueto and that's why he's one of my breakout candidates in 2010.

Thanks for the write up on Danny. I love getting this type of info on young and new players in the system.

Ditto. OBM, GOYA, Redsof72 and of course Doug make the minor league board the best part of redszone IMO. Long time posters like JaxRed, Doc Scott and Jmcclain add a lot as well.

Usually, discussion of minor leaguers requires posters who are pretty knowledgable in general anyway, so there is no voting or rep system required to keep the standards up.

Re: Who is Redszone's #27 prospect?

I really don't get the lack of love for Henry Rodriguez...

By Doug's accounts, he has not just good, but ELITE speed... He will play a middle infield position, and as a 19 year old, with 209 ab's between the GCL and Venezuelan Winter League he only struck out 25 times and hit .335... Seems like a kid that has a lot of upside, has an elite skill, and plays a position of scarcity would be held in a higher regard.
