    Re: Bengals 2010

I hope the Bengals draft Gresham. They haven't had a quality TE in 20 years. It'd be nice to finally have a good one and Gresham fits the bill.

2nd Round I'd like the Bengals to draft the best defensive player on the line or at safety.

    3rd Round - Mardy Gilyard

I doubt Mardy Gilyard lasts til round 3, or if he does, I doubt he lasts to when the Bengals pick.

I'm kinda hoping Taylor Mays falls into the second round. He has similar knocks on him that Maualuga had last year that caused him to fall. Not somebody you would take in the first round, but definitely somebody you take a flier on if he falls into the second.

If the Bengals got Dez Bryant in the 1st, Taylor Mays in the 2nd, and Mardy Gilyard in the 3rd, I would buy Season Tickets the next day...

    ...and I live in Boston.

There is about as much likelihood in that scenario as the Reds drafting Bryce Harper.

More realistically, I look for the Bengals to take Iupati or Pouncey in the 1st, Brian Price, Golden Tate, Damian Williams or Mardy Gilyard in the 2nd, and maybe a guy like Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, or a safety like Major Wright in the 3rd.

That said, if either Dez Bryant or Earl Thomas is still on the board in the 1st, you HAVE to take them.

I think if Mays slips to the 2nd the bengals should trade up and try to snag him. I seriously doubt he would make it to them in the 2nd. Early 2nd like Rey sure but hes not going to slip that far.

Id also have to give Gilyard a look just because I'm a homer and I that dude really wants to play for the Bengals.

Id be more than happy with Bryant, Gresham, Thomas. If none of them are there im probably crying.

While I agree, please remember this is the BENGALS we're talking about. When is the last time they ever traded up for a player? I don't even think Mike Brown knows how to do that.

Oh I'm obviously in a dream world. I could see them trading back then picking him up in the early 2nd if none of the guys that fit are there when they draft. I dont really see the point but I could see them doing it.

No disrespect intended but I am not a big believer in Gresham or Gilyard, I could live with them but I think we can do better. At WR I think some intriguing guys around the 3rd would be Carlton Mitchell USF and Andre Roberts of the Citadel, I like them both better than Gilyard. And with regards to a TE I think we do need one in this draft but Aaron Hernandez is more intriguing to me as a potential game changing receiver of the ball plus I think he has the necessary strength to eventually hold his own pretty well as a blocker. Outside of Hernandez only the Illinois TE (Hoomanawanui) who would be a later lesser pick is up our alley as a solid catch and block guy.

I'd like to see it go more like so if still available at our picks.

1st - Earl Thomas (FS) Texas
2nd - Aaron Hernandez (TE) Florida
3rd - Carlton Mitchell (WR) USF
    3rd - Daniel Te'o-Nesheim (DE) Washington
4th - Trade my 1st 4th for Tony Scheffler or Greg Olsen or some other Vet TE/ Or draft Michael Hoomanawanui (TE) Illinois
4th - Mitch Petrus (OG) Arkansas
5th - Dan Lefevour (QB) Central Michigan
6th - Bryan McCann (CB) SMU
    7th - Leigh Tiffin (K) Alabama

Aaron Hernandez scares the crap out of me. Too small to be an NFL TE, too big to play receiver, and I don't buy the matchup headache argument. They guy is a tweener. At his position I see him as very scheme specific, and I don't like him for the Bengals. In much the same way I wouldn't mind seeing Taylor Mays wearing stripes, because I am confident he would fit into Mike Zimmer's defense. I don't see Hernandez as fitting into the Bengals offense. If they want a TE he needs to be a larger, guy like Gresham etc.
The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.

Hernandez would be a great target. Kid is a game-changer. He will make a lot of plays in the NFL.

I like your thinkng, although I would MUCH rather have Greg Olsen than tony Scheffler. It's not even close.

I know what you are saying and I would agree to some extent but what I found intriguing about Hernandez's potential blocking ability is his upper body strength is so much greater than Greshams. Kind of hunch but if I have to choose a pass catching field stretcher and my choices are Gresham in round 1 or Hernandez in round 2 then for me it's obvious I'm going Hernandez, less risk with as much upside IMO.

I'm just saying there that Scheffler is probably a bit better blocker so I'd lean that way, especially since I probably am way more likely to get him with a 4th rounder than Olsen. And either would be an upgrade to our current situation.

I know I was for about a whole 5 months or so. Had about 100 Ki-jana rookies at the time. Heck I think I still have them somewhere. What a waste of cash.
