Nobody jinx it!!!!
Where there is smoke, there is fire. I think we got him.
From MLBTradeRumors:
1:34pm: Jeff Blair from the Globe and Mail in Canada tweets that he's hearing that Chapman signing with the Reds at five years and $30MM is a done deal.
1:28pm: Dejan Kovacevic tweets that the Pirates are also not the team that has agreed to sign Chapman.
1:19pm: Morosi tweets that while he hasn't received any confirmation or denials from Reds officials, he spoke with two people from other clubs who think Chapman is going to the Reds.
1:12pm: Yahoo's Tim Brown narrows down the list of NL Central teams (via Twitter), eliminating the Brewers from the mix.
1:00pm: Buster Olney tweets that it's not the Padres or Dodgers. Seconds later, he chimes in that it's also not Colorado or Atlanta.
12:58pm: MLB.com's Joe Frisaro tweets that it's "definitely" not the Marlins signing Chapman. He hears that it's the Reds.

I posted this in the Scott Rolen trade thread on July 31, 2009
As someone who has actually seen Zach Stewart pitch in person, you can't help but cringe at seeing him included in this type of deal. For those of you that question his talent, he is at least a taller healthy Scott Williamson right now. And yet he has room for growth.
My initial reaction was a stream of obscenity.
EE and Roenicke + Chaff for Rolen and Cash OK
EE, Roenicke, and Stewart for Rolen and Cash, they had better sign Aroldis Chapman.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.

Biggest international signing since...
Alejandro Diaz.
beyond awesome!
.
I think this is actually going to happen. I'm in shock. I still don't believe it. I'm waiting for the typical "the deal is dead" report like we always gets when it comes to potential Reds moves.
Cueto, Volquez, Bailey, Chapman.
Does any team in the majors have 4 young arms like that?
Maybe the Yanks and Sox figured why spend money on someone who might only be a 5th starter....This year. They need people for this year....so might as well take money elsewhere. Perfect for this team since they can be more patient and not expect him to be ready now.
He looks like Dontrelle Willis to me when i see him pitch. Maybe he can bring some 2003 marlins like magic to the Reds.
If this turns out to be true, this will be the biggest deal the Reds have made since the Griffey acquisition in 2000, IMO.
I'm gonna go ahead and purchase my tickets for September...
2010 Mock Draft Selections (picking for Rays)
Bryce Brentz
Brandon Workman
Kris Bryant
Matt Lipka
Rick Hague
Hopefully this signing will not affect Harang or Arroyo's current situation on the team. I think Chapman needs a year in AA or AAA... I'm not comfortable relying on him to be a major league starter in a month...
But you cant help but be excited about the possibility of Cueto, Volquez, Bailey, and Chapman all in the same rotation some day.
Does this kid instantly make the 5 man rotation?
