Tyler Cline was a high draft choice who, at age 19, did quite well in the GCL last year. His K rate was just ok at 6.4, but his ERA was 2.09, he allowed 41 hits in 60 innings, and he walked 3.1 per nine.

Given his high draft status and very good performance at a young age, I'm going with Tyler at this stage. He certainly should be in the top forty.

Gregorius. Defense at shortstop is good. High contact rate. Good speed. Solid numbers at a young age.

Last year's #31 (Robert Manuel) and #33 (Daniel Herrera) both made it to Cincinnati. Four players at the bottom of the rankings from two years ago (#30 Paul Janish, #32 Daniel Herrera, #35 Ramon Ramirez and #40 Craig Tatum) all played in Cincinnati last year. On top of that, Janish and Wilkin Castillo didn't even make last year's top 40 and played in Cincinnati, and Ryan Hanigan and Chris Heisey didn't make the top 40 the year before. It may not be star studded at the bottom of the group, but it's not hopeless either.

And the thing is, one man's 33 is another's 14. There are still guys out there--several, actually--whom I might rate ahead of, say, Boxberger (#10), Duran (16), Joseph (20), Fellhauer (21), Smith (24), and everybody from Viola (27) on, excepting Ondrusek.

And who knows, a year from now a player ranked at #40 may be in the top ten. A guy like a Junior Arias, or Daniel Corcino, or Humberto Valor have a lot of potential but are very raw and unknown at this point but each have the potential to breakout in 2010 and make a significant jump in next years rankings.

Hildenbrandt, 2008, GCL: 2.67 with better K per 9 at 8.8, BB at 2.5/ and ratio at 3.5.
Unless people think Hildenbrandt's injury means he can't return to previous levels, I can't see the case for Cline over him.

I would choose Cline in this poll because he has been healthy.

If somebody has a report that Hildenbrandt is healthy and ready to go at full strength, I might prefer him too. But I haven't heard any such report.

There hasn't been a lot of info about him or about Lotzkar that I've seen. If you have some, please share it.
