Okay, you guys need to convince me of something:

How is watching soccer better than watching paint dry?

    Convince me.

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

Says a poster on a baseball board.

I think it is like anything else: either you like it or you don't. I like soccer just like I like football, basketball and hockey. It is just a shade above those others as my second favorite sport...though a distant second to hardball it is. Much like baseball the game has a tremendous cultural history and is fun to follow day to day not just on gameday.

I love baseball. Everything else is just filler until summer comes round.

Yeah, I guess it could be that.

It seems like it's always the same thing, but I guess you could say that about any sport.

I really gathered an appreciation for Soccer when I was covering the IU team for the newspaper. I gained the appreciation because 1) IU was really good and 2) Watching games from the press box allows you to see plays develop better than on TV.

People are familiar with football so they don't see it this way but my wife always gets mad when the team just runs up the middle. "It never goes anywhere, stupidest play in sports."

I don't follow NASCAR like I once did, but Martin is my favorite these days, as well, and for the same reason. The guys that have come up in the past ten years are cut from a different cloth than the generation that came before them.
