I went with Daniel Corcino again. I also added Ismael Guillon to the poll after he reportedly impressed scouts in Instructional League, according to Keith Law.

If we have a guy available at #37 that some services have at 10, I'm going there sight unseen. Arias

Re: Who is Redszone's #37 prospect?

Juan Francisco was named a Dominican Winter League All-Star and won a Gold Glove.

Dominican Winter League All Stars 2009

The Dominican Winter Baseball League released their all stars, as well as MVPs, for the 2009 season.

First off, here is a list of the players of the week throughout the season:

    Dec. 7-14: Willy Mo Pena

    November 30-December 6: Wilson Betemit

    November 23-29: Juan Francisco

    November 16-22: Juan Francisco

    November 8-15: Kevin Barker

    November 1-7: Timoniel Perez

    October 24-31: Alexander Valdez

    October 17-24: Conor Jackson

Not a surprise that a lot of these guys ended up on the all star team. Here are the all stars:

    C Robinson Diaz

    1B Kevin Barker

    2B Alexander Valdez

    SS Wilson Valdez

    3B Juan Francisco

OF Timoniel Perez, Ricardo Nanita, Carlos Gomez

    DH Eric Almonte

    Relief Pitcher Julio Manon

    Pitcher of Year Jose Capellan

    Manager of Year Ken Oberkfell

And, as the Dominican Baseball Guy predicted, Juan Francisco won the MVP. He led the league in home runs and RBIs.

The league also announced the gold gloves:

    C Alberto Rosario

    1B Kevin Barker

    2B Alexander Valdez

    SS Wilson Valdez

    3B Juan Francisco

OF Rudy Yan, Jose Costanza, Carlos Gomez

    P Jose Capellan

Fair point, I probably should have considered him a little more. But I do like Bucholz more than most I see him a lot like Valaika, a marginal to decent starting 2B option slash UT IF with decent bats. Arias being as far away as he is plays into it a bit as well.

I wonder how many of these young SS's are actually any better than Jose Castro who is still only 22 himself and played at AA last year. He's not great but depending on his defense (which I haven't heard anything bad about) could be than Janish.

A GG for Francisco? Wow! Congrats to Juan for his GG and MVP. A good look at the All Stars and players of the week, a whos who of AAAA types.

Re: Who is Redszone's #37 prospect?

I was just looking through our top 40 from last season and noticed that Junior Arias was our #37 prospect. If the voting holds in this poll, Junior Arias will once again be our #37 prospect.
