Cabrera should go back to number 9.
Cabrera should go back to number 9.
The Reds have had a lot of number twos at the shortstop position all right.
I think that a "legitimate" baseball uniform number is an indication that he is definitely on the radar, though it is no guarantee that he is likely to make the club. After all, a lot of other outfielders also have low numbers:
Drew Stubbs (#6)
Laynce Nix (#17)
Chris Dickerson (#21)
Wladimir Balentien (#25)
Jay Bruce (#32 -- usually a pitcher's number, but still a low number)
It is doubtful that all six of these players make the team out of Spring Training.
Cabrera should wear #0, for "Orlando"!
