Giants reach multi-year contract with Lincecum

    To avoid arbitration

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4908311

Right-hander Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants have settled their arbitration case, with the two-time NL Cy Young winner signing a multiyear contract ahead of Friday's scheduled hearing, sources tell ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Thursday that the Giants had made an initial three-year, $37 million offer to Lincecum.

For arbitration, the Giants filed for $8 million while Lincecum countered with $13 million. He earned $650,000 last season.

So they basically cut this year down the middle and he can presumably now afford to get a haircut....

I'm thinking he's just dreaming of what he can do with all that cash vis a vis his "off-season hobby".

Maybe a medicinal marijuana prescription was part of the deal...you know, for his aching arm between starts.

Thats a shame, I was hoping to see this one go to arbitration just to hear how the Giants would have argued their case.

Giants: Uh, well he's only had 2 real seasons, he's just not worth 13million yet.

Tims side is simply placing two Cy Youngs on the table.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

I thought about this too.. I kinda came to the conclusion that they would have tried to throw his character into question, how being caught with the drugs somehow showed how immature he was.
