    PROject proJECT 2010: Drew Sutton

Post your prediction on how you think Drew Sutton will do in 2010. Use any stats you wish. I'll compile the results and (attempt to) generate an "average" result for everyone to mock, deride, praise and engage in "I told you so-ism" one year from now. I'll try to put up one player every couple of days which should get us close to spring training.

Note: I think I'll leave this "open" to revision until just before opening day.

The pitchers can be seen here.

The hitters can be seen here.

Please try to make projections/predictions/guesses for the players with the fewest number of projections/predictions/guesses as noted by the "#" column on the right of the spreadsheet.

Link to previous PP2k10 threads. (I don't know why the Sun Deck doesn't come up in the results.)

Hard to see him making the team with Aaron Miles now on board. Sutton is a better player, but Miles has the history with Walt, so Sutton probably goes down.

I'm guessing he's peddled for a PTBNL at the end of Spring.

If he should find 250 PAs or so somewhere, I'd guess .275/.340/.400

Hopefully he makes the team over Aaron Miles.

    185 PA - .255/.335/.410 - .745 OPS, 4 HR

Personally, I'd rather see someone with some actual upside make the team over both Sutton or Miles. Frazier, Francisco, Valiaka, etc can all fill in at multiple positions and hit the ball a ton better than either Sutton or Miles. Of the 3, I'd say that Francisco could use regular work in the minors more than the other 2. I don't see much left for Todd or Chris to prove on the farm. But odds are, it'll be Miles.

I think Sutton's upside is about the same as Valaika's. The fact that Sutton switch hits and has already had success at AAA puts him in line in front of them all. Frazier's upside is a bit higher and Francisco's upside is much higher than any of them, but both FRazier and Francisco need more time in AAA. Valaika needs to repeat AAA and have a good year. I really don't think Frazier or Vailaka should be an option. Francisco maybe as the LH half of a LF platoon, but if he's not getting regular ABs then back to AAA with him.
