    Jermaine Dye Retiring?

    Chuck Garfien Via Twitter

The biggest bombshell: Jermaine Dye told Frank he's considering retiring. "That's what he told me and I told him he's crazy."

Perhaps a way to get a few teams to call him?

Possibly, or the offers he did get didn't pay as much as he thinks he deserves.

That's what I think too. Just trying to drum up a little business.

Well if the Tigers are going to outbid everyone by $3MM for Damon then Dye could still get around $2-3MM.. Is it worth it? Who knows but he didn't help his case by flopping in the 2nd half

It's a ploy to keep his name out there and land a job. It's called "pulling a Favre".

And it was only last year when many posters were begging us to send Bailey their way to get Dye.

And the year before, Votto and Bailey for Garko.

You could get either right now for a "coke and a bag of chips".

Really? Votto and Bailey for Garko? Yikes! I was part of the Bailey and lower level prospect for Dye last year but I'd never.. Ev..ever trade Votto and Bailey for Ryan Garko.

Someone came up with that gem during Votto's 2008 season here.

    Because Garko was a stud!!!

I just checked back, and RedLegJake suggested that Bailey and Votto would likely not be enough to get Garko, in April 2008.

    RedLegJake, EXPLAIN YOURSELF!
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Apparently MLB teams have finally recognized that aging sluggers who can no longer play the field simply aren't much of a commodity.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
