Kinda surprised that UCLA is just this awful this year. I consider Ben Howland to be one of the top coaches in college basketball. This year is just a huge surprise for me.
I'm talking about the 2008 season.

They traditionally do very well in the Bowl games and are usually underrated as a conference, but this year, as you say, was a very bad year. The Basketball Programs are in such a mess that it's not going to be fixed in one year. The Football programs are in very good shape and they should go back to the dominance they're used to next season.

When he said "last season", he meant the 2008-2009 season.

To some degree, the Pac-10’s woes may be tied to a turnover in coaches, six of whom are in their first or second seasons. This can result in a slip back in recruiting or a coach trying to win with players who do not fit his system. For example, in his two seasons at Cal Montgomery has been critical of his team’s defense, rebounding and overall toughness.
I look for there to be a seventh coaching change in three years, because I don't see Ernie Kent returning to Oregon next season. I think Arizona will be a lot better though. Sean Miller is a heck of a coach. He'll turn Arizona around, IMO.

I didn't realize that many coaches were new. Kent is definitely gone. They'll open their new building with a new Coach.

You mentioned a lot of teams, but not ND. Of course I think this was posted before their last two wins, but I gotta believe with beating Pitt and Gtown in their last two they've got some shot at getting in.
