From John Fay - Chapman has no timetable for Chapman
http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/201...e-for-chapman/Aroldis Chapman doesn’t know anymore than anyone else. He knows he’s going to start the year in the minor leagues, but nothing beyond that.
“I don’t worry about that,” he said. “I just want to be in the game. Wherever they send me, I know I have to do a good job. I know I’m going to pitch the big leagues.
“When, I don’t know.”
Chapman on his outing today:
http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/...=.jsp&c_id=cin"I felt great," said Chapman, with bullpen coach Juan Lopez translating. "I threw a couple of sliders out of the strike zone. I hadn't thrown a lot of sliders in the bullpen, so I was working today to throw more sliders than fastballs. I was trying to command my fastball in the first inning and then trying to work on the slider."
Chapman has been assigned to Triple-A Louisville. No date has been set yet for his first start.
Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

From John Fay:
http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/201...-on-the-moves/Jocketty:
–On why Louisville for Chapman: “A number of things. Competition-wise, we thought that was where he should be. I don’t want to go into everything, but we felt competition and environment. Plus there are some long bus rides in Carolina.”
That Louisville rotation is going to be filthy.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
Article from Joe Kay - Reds’ Chapman leading Cuban wave to big leagues
rest of article:A few innings are left before Aroldis Chapman gets his turn to pitch. The Cuban defector passes the time in the dugout by showing Cincinnati Reds teammates how much he has learned since the last time they were together.
He starts calling out lists.
In English.
“He’s on the bench reciting the days and numbers,” shortstop Paul Janish(notes) said. “He’ll start counting and go all the way up to 300. We’re like, ‘Dude, one day at a time!”’

From C. Trent:
rest of article:Aroldis Chapman will make his professional debut in Ohio, but it'll be up the road in Toledo, not in Cincinnati.
Chapman is scheduled to start for the Class AAA Louisville Bats in the team's fourth game of the season, one week from Sunday, April 11 at Fifth Third Field, according to Bats manager Rick Sweet.
The Bats' rotation should start with Sam LeCure, followed by Travis Wood, Matt Maloney, Chapman and Justin Lehr.

I was kind of hoping he would start on Opening Night (Thursday, April 8) but oh well, what's another three days. C. Trent also says Chapman's first start at home will be on Friday, April 16.

From John Erardi's article:
rest of article:I always spend the first day out in the crowd. There have been times I've felt like administering a standing eight-count to some of the guys in standing room only. Didn't see it Monday.
I hate to credit a guy who isn't even here yet, but I'm calling it the Aroldis Chapman Factor. I heard the Cuban fireballer's name come up seven different times in eight different places.
What got me listening was when Reds owner Bob Castellini said before the game that if Chapman takes care of business in his minor league starts, he'll be up in May.

Why? Braves mothballed Tommy Hanson last year for that reason, as did the O's with Wieters. If guys are ready, I am not a fan of it, but teams certainly do stash prospects to avoid Super 2 issues. Reds did it with Bruce, arguably, back in 2008.
