If I remember correctly, SI picked the Reds as their sleeper team in 1999 as well. I was on an airline reading the story.
Hey, does anyone know why Jose Arredondo has not had surgery yet? It would seem to me they would have done his Tommy John surgery soon after they signed him. The sooner he has the surgery, the sooner he can help.
I think I throw the ball as hard as anyone. The ball just doesn't get there as fast. Eddie Bane
We know we're better than this ... but we can't prove it. Tony Gwynn
Didn't they pick the Reds as their sleeper pick last season?
Every year theres stories about the Reds as a "darkhorse team" somewhere. Tell me when its Labor Day and we're doing more than treading water at best and I might care about writer's "darkhorse predictions".

I guess he's not entirely on the bandwagon yet. I found it funny that he ranked offense, pitching, bench and manager and gave the highest grade to the manager with a B. He ranks the pitching a C with no mention of the bullpen. Like most of the preview reports, I'll take it with a grain of salt.
How do we know he's not Mel Torme?

Some of this has validity, I guess -- none of it surprising -- but Reds as a dark horse because their new facility has charging stations for iphones? I mean, color me skeptical.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.
What? No Blackberry charging stations?
Color me uber skeptical.

Another to bump. Likewise, here's the list of predictions from various SI writers. One writer picked us in that list (Cliff Corcoran) and he was correct on 3 of the 4 playoff teams (picked Dodgers instead of Giants). One other writer got 3 of 4 also, albeit picking the Cardinals over us.

If anyone else comes across other predictions from Spring Training, feel free to post them.
