Voice Calling for Reds Revival in 2010 (nice article from AOL Fanhouse.com)

    Nice article by Tom Krasovic.

"September 2006 was the last time I remember us having a winning team," Phillips said. "Then we went to the West Coast and fell off the map. We haven't been good since."

Nodding at Chapman across the clubhouse, he smiled again.

"I'm glad he got $30 million. He deserves it because he's athletic, and, man, he throws 100 miles per hour. I'm happy with his signing because it makes people see who we are and brings attention to us. Before, nobody knew who we were. Everybody just knows we lose."

And the Reds 2010 season preview from the same website...

A lot of people have the Reds on their sleeper short-list in 2010, and there's certainly enough talent here to warrant that. Still, there are a lot of things that have to fall in place for that to actually happen. They need big years from Harang, Arroyo, and Chapman, they need a healthy Rolen and a resurgent Cabrera, and they need Votto, Bruce, and Johnny Cueto to continue developing into above-average major leaguers. Of course, the latter three and Chapman are most important for the Reds this year; if they all perform well but the old guys falter and miss the playoffs, the Reds will still be in good position for the future.

    nice article.

one of the reasons the Reds can pay Chapman $30M is that they don't have a bunch of albatross contracts. Walt has done a very nice thing. Bad contracts like Milton's & Griffey's came off the books and he did NOT immediately go blow the money on a bad contract. this is kinda unusual in Redsland.
