St. Patrick's Day Thread (Day Game-SS)

Aroldis Chapman pitching. I missed the first two batters.

Weeks led off with a HR on a 3-1 pitch to deep left-center.
Gomez retired on a fly ball.
Braun struck out looking. (the second to last pitch was an 88 MPH change).
Hart strikes out swinging on another 88 MPH change that had Hart fooled.

Note:According to Brewer announcers Chapman played first until he was 15 and so does not have much wear and tear on his arm.

Doug Davis will be facing Dickerson, Cozart and Votto.

Dickerson reaches first on a flare to left-center. Stubbs slams water cooler. Dickerson now hitting .455 early.
Cozart bounces into a 6-4-3 (Casey/Phillips -take your pick).
Votto skies on to center and the Reds go meekly in the bottom of the first.

Brewer's up for the top of the second. Brewer announcers now saying that the changes may have been sliders in the first. They noted that he seems to be working more on his off-speed stuff today.

Steffan Wilson K's leading off on a slider.
    Counsell bounces to Votto unassisted.
    Escobar K's on a change.

A quick and efficient top of the second for Chapman.

    Reds turn in the second.

Rolen will lead off. And he bounces to third. One down.
Gomes heads for the plate. Davis takes a little off and Gomes chases. Two Down.
Balentien goes down on a swing and a miss of a fastball that was up.

Chapman is dialing it up this half-inning. Weeks HR in 1st went about 450 feet.

Koteras (sp?) strikes out on a fastball with some hair on it. One down.
Doug Davis at the plate. Grounds out to either ss or 2b. Two down.
Weeks falls behind but would not chase a slider and Weeks takes a walk.
Gomez bounces to a force at second 6-4.

Hernandez will start things off for the Reds in the bottom of the third and is retired on a ground ball to second.
Chris Burke is DHing today. Burke draws a free pass from his ex-Diamondback teammate.
Wilkins Castillo grabs a bat. Castillo playing second today. Base hit on a hit-and-run through the vacated hole at short. Runners at first and second.
Escobar ranges into the hole and gets a force at second. Two down. First and third.
Cozart pops the first pitch up to the first basemen and down go the Reds

NOTE:Brewers announcers relating that the doctor that looked at Volquez said it was the worst-looking elbow he had ever seen and said that it was a medical miracle that Edinson could go out there and pitch. Conversely, in the physical exam on Chapman he was said to have the cleanest elbow the doctor had seen on a pitcher.

Nick Masset takes over for Chapman to start things off in the fourth.

Braun jumps on the first pitch and doubles off the wall in deep centerfield. Announcers say it was wind-aided.

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou
