    Corey Patterson Opts Out

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/0...medium=twitter

According to Kirby Arnold of the Everett Herald, Corey Patterson has opted out of his contract with the Mariners and is now a free agent. Arnold writes that with Eric Byrnes looking to have won the M's backup outfield spot, Patterson decided to look elsewhere for employment.

Patterson signed a minor-league deal with Seattle last December.

Managers better keep their daughters locked up.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Maybe he and Willy Taveras can open a bakery.

Should Corey really be opting out of teams at this point?

I'm so proud of the Reds this off season. I kept waiting for the shoe to drop, but they never made the deal that made me want to pull the trigger. First time in several years. In fact, I think they had a pretty solid winter.

Any sentence with Corey Patterson, and 'out' says it all.

Someone hide this news from the entire Reds managerial and front office staff.
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
