3/31 wednesday night vs. Los Angeles

Four straight singles to start the game for the Reds and they lead early 2 zip.
Windblown popfly drops for Jay Bruce and it is 3-0 Reds. 1st and 3rd nobody out. Announcers say it is a hitter's park and the wind is blowing out viciously so look for a lot of runs to be plated tonight.
Gomes K's and Juan Francisco lumbers towards the plate.
Dewitt boots an easy ground ball but recovers to get JF at first but a run scores. Runner on 2nd, 4-0.
Hanigan skies to right and the top of the first is in the books.

The conditions seem ripe for scoring so if this was a head-to-head between Leake and Wood today for the fifth spot in the rotation, advantage Leake.

Wood K's Ethier for the second out. Travis hails from Alexander, Arkansas...Population 615 I believe Charley Steiner said.
Kemp fouls out to Votto and it is a 1-2-3 first for TW.

Orlando Cabrera grounds into the hole but the throw goes into the dugout and O.C. is sent to second. Votto doubles sharply to right and another runner is plated. 7 zip. Phillips flies out to Either as Votto motors over into third. 1 down. Bruce grounds down the right field line and heads into second as Votto scores. 8-0. Gomes singles to second. Bruce scores, but Gomes is caught in a rundown. Two down, 9 runs for the Reds. Juan Francisco goes off the wall in deep centerfield for a two-out double. Hanigan grounder to short is booted, but Hu recovers and guns him down to end the top of the 2nd. 9-0.

Looks like the Dodgers have been spending a little too much time in the casinos

Re: 3/31 wednesday night vs. Los Angeles

Wood strikes out Casey Blake to start the bottom half of the second.
Hoffman takes a called third strike and there are two down.
Dodgers get their first runner on a full-count walk to Russ Mitchell.
Ellis walks and their are runners on first and second with 2 gone.
Wood walks Hu on his 31st pitch of the inning and the bases are jammed.
Cabrera fields a grounder and goes to second forcing the runner and the inning is mercifully over.

This is a beating. I've barely paid attention to be honest, but this is some funny stuff.

Re: 3/31 wednesday night vs. Los Angeles

a quick top of the third with three ground balls off the bats of Castillo, Dickerson and Cabrera. Wood back out to the mound.
Dewitt gets a second life as a pop foul falls but then takes a called third strike on the next pitch. 4 K's for Wood now.
Eithier comes up empty on a swing for the fifth strikeout for Wood.
Kemp triples off the wall in right. The wind is evil tonight.
RBI grounder down the left field line and it is 9-1 with a runner on second.
Dickerson tracks down a deep fly to center to end the third.

Re: 3/31 wednesday night vs. Los Angeles

I'm officially changing my prediction - Leake starts with the Big Squad.

Maloney may bump him, and make it as the swing lefty along with Micah, but if it's between Leake and Wood, it's Leake hands-down if you thought they were even going into tonight.

    PEACE

    -BLEEDS
I think that in a year or two, one of these guys - Frazier, Dorn, Valaika, Cumberland, Stubbs - will be ready to replace Dunn. They won't hit as many home runs as Dunn, but they should have similar OPS. - 757690, July 22, 2008

Alonso will be playing 1B for the REDS and batting 4th one year from today. - Kingspoint, July 9, 2009

Agreed. Leake dominated today and wood began to get shaky just 3 innings into his performance.
