He was put on the DL for a thyroid test but I have not really heard any more details than that.

Thanks. I had not heard anything and noticed he was not in the box scores for the bats.

Interesting. He's been quite an enigma. 2 years ago he had the best cutter this side of Mo Rivera. Hope it's not serious.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    Re: Burton

7 day DL for thyroid testing? unless you live in an igloo in north Alaska it takes less than 24 hours to get the results of a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). a TSH is >99% sensitive for picking up either an overactive or underactive thyroid

    either:
    1. he has already had some bloodwork done which was abnormal. he does have something wrong with his thyroid (an underactive thyroid is much more common & easier to treat than an overactive thyroid). therefore he has been sent to an endocrinologist for more advanced testing/treatment
    2. the Reds use a really really slow lab for their medical tests
