2 for 2 for Stubbs with a run and rbi and 1 for 1 for Francisco.

Hate to be a downer but Francisco got a first pitch fastball in the zone and he lined it for a single. We know he can do this, there was no real positives to take from that IMO.

Yeahhhhh. A nice first pitch hit but he's going to have to prove pitch selection later on in the majors.

The whole team was swinging 1st pitch.

The REDS as a team swung at the 1st pitch 39% of the time Opening Day. The average for the League was 27% for Sunday and Monday games.

The only players who didn't swing at the 1st pitch were Harang, Stubbs, Nix and Gomes. Phillips swung at the 1st Pitch 4 of 5 times, while Votto, Rolen, Dickerson and Cabrera swung at the 1st Pitch 2 of 5 times. Bruce and Hernandez swung at the 1st Pitch just once in 4 times.

As a result, the REDS only saw 2-0 counts 17% of the time.

Francisco was just good enough to hit it.
