Phillips is caught stealing 2nd. He is arguing the call.

Phillips was safe. Still don't like the steal attempt though. Costly out.

He was safe. He pulled his left hand back and was safe with the right hand.

2 bad calls there. That should have been Ball 4 on Rolen (low and outside) and Phillips was safe at second. Other than that, the umpires did a bang up job there.

I'm not sure if BP was safe at 2nd or not, but keep in mind Chad Fairchild is not the best ump to put it lightly. I still hold a grudge after last summer's game when he threw out EE as soon as he started to argue on an awful call against Pittsburgh. I was at that game, everyone knew Ryan Doumit was out except Fairchild. Just sayin'. [End Rant Against Umpire]

Gomes strikes out swinging on 3 pitches. 1-0 Cards after 2.

Wow, Gomes looked like he brought a broomstick to the plate there.

Steal attempt was unnecessary. Rolen ahead in the count, let him hit away. Don't mess around with a 3-1 count in favor of a power hitter.

Gomes had no chance against Wainright there.

stealing on a 3-1 count is not a smart move. Most likely a fastball, and most likely the batter will let it go unless it's in his zone, in which case, he'll crush it. So either it's an easy ball for the catcher to throw, or it's hits hard, or a walk.

Someone needs to tell Keels no one calls this game "Opening Night." It is the first night game of the year for the Reds, but no baseball fan refers to it as Opening Night.

Keels is already getting on my nerves. We finally get rid of George Grande and they replace him with Paul Keels. I can't win!
