    Smithers, GM.

I'm glad we have Walt instead of Smithers.

When C. Montgomery Burns sent Waylon Smithers out to scour the American League, the National League, and the Negro League, a pretty solid roster was assembled for the Springfield Power Plant. But was it really the best roster that Smithers could have assembled?

I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

To be fair, Smithers wasn't much of a baseball fan. He was more focused on his "world's best" collection of Malibu Stacy dolls.

No analysis Burns as a manager? He was playing the percentages of lefty/righty splits by sitting Strawberry and sending up Homer. Dusty would have been proud, dude.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."
