    Mike Leake predictions, Round 2

OK we're going to take OBM's first thread to another level and have a bit more fun with it.

Instead of predicting what Leake will do on Friday against the Pirates in his second start, we're going to nail down an exact prediction contest.

Using the Bill James "game score" formula, we'll see who correctly predicts Leake's performance to the closest score.

    Post the following information:

    IP
    HA
    BB
    K
    ER
    UER

To configure your prediction score, start with 50 points.

Add 1 point for every out (i.e. 3 points for a complete inning, 2 for 2/3 etc.)
Add 2 points extra for every complete inning after the 4th
Add 1 point for every strikeout
Subtract 2 points for each hit allowed
Subtract 1 point for each walk issued
Subtract 4 points for each earned run
Subtract 2 points for each unearned run

The total is the game score.

    -------------------------

    My prediction:

    7 IP
    5 HA
    1 BB
    7 K
    2 ER
    1 UR

    Score 50 + 21 (7 IP * 3) + 6 (2 * 3 IP past 4th) + 7 (K) - 10 (2 * 5 HA) - 1 (BB) - 8 (2 ER * 4) - 2 (1 UR * 2) =

    Brutus' game score = 63

    --------------------

    Predictions:

    Medford (69)
    Brutus the Pimp (63)
    GoReds (60)
    RedsManRick (48)

Re: Mike Leake predictions, Round 2

    6 IP, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K, 3 ER, 0 UER

Add 1 point for every out (i.e. 3 points for a complete inning, 2 for 2/3 etc.): 18
Add 2 points extra for every complete inning after the 4th: 4
Add 1 point for every strikeout: 4
Subtract 2 points for each hit allowed: 14
Subtract 1 point for each walk issued: 2
Subtract 4 points for each earned run: 12
Subtract 2 points for each unearned run: 0

    Game Score = 48
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Against a pretty good lineup? I'd say 6 IP of 3 ER.
