He's not a prospect at all. He's a first rate journeyman though.

The K's from Maloney are right in line with his career. Anyone got GO/AO numbers for this game?

    2 GO/5 GO. He entered the game with a 2.80 GO/FO ratio.

    Matt Maloney's updated 2010 stats:

    16.2 IP, 15 H, 0 HR, 2 BB/22 K, 2.16 ERA, 1.45 GO/FO

Gotta love the BB/K ratio and no home runs allowed.

Its almost like he's becoming a better pitcher in the minors, like he's developing or something.

I wonder how many 5+ BB games the Reds will allow Leake to have before Maloney gets a shot. Or if he'll be packaged before then.

Leake has been the Reds best starter so far (13.2 IP, 11 H, 0 HR, 2.63 ERA). Obviously the walks have been a problem so far but they never bothered him in the past. I don't think we'll see him walk too many hitters once he gets settled in.

I wonder how many 5+ ER games the Reds will allow Bailey to have before Maloney gets a shot. Or if he'll be packaged before then.
    Fixed that for you.

There are other pitchers they need to move out of Maloney's way before you get to Leake.

Yeah, but Homer is out of options. And he's going to be tough to move. Leake has options.

But 2-3 more starts like this one and Maloney's value will be at an all time high. Whether that be as a Red or a piece for the next player to don the Reds jersey.

Leakes about the only guy on the I want to keep pitching. The fact that hes walking guys after being so good with control in college and the limited pro innings is something I can almost completely look past.

Frankly, if Bailey doesn't put it together soon, bullpen should be his next point of call, in my opinion.

Very logical, probably happens before the end of the summer.

The way Maloney is pitching... How stupid does that Maloney/Alonso/Francisco/Hannigan for Posey suggestion look now? Really don't think the Giants would just hang the phone up on that one...
