Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
Horror movies should be called horrible movies. Most just plain suck.

what is scary depends a lot on the age of the viewer. Hammer horror flicks (edited for TV no less) scared me tremendously when i was a child.
my parents told me they would give me nightmares. yet i snuck up to grandma's room regularly to watch them. and guess what? now only did i get nightmares but night terrors! did that stop me from watching? of course not.
now i watch older horror films like the Universal & Hammer classics and they are enjoyable but not scary.
most modern horror films are gorefests. theres a fine line between a good scary realistic horror film (Wolf Creek!) and a gorefest. its kinda like pornography. i can't define it well but i know it when i see it. gorefests are not scary. they are just sleezy.
I would say that as an adult i know that a film is just a film. so they don't scare me as much as unsettle me. a few off the top of my head that got under my skin:
Ringu didn't do much for me but The Ring (remake) did.
Several films by David Croneberg.
Hellraiser. particularly when guy is growing back his body.
Several Dario Argento films.
Neil Marshall's The Descent.
Cabin Fever.

The list-maker wanted to burnish his iconiclast cred by putting Blair Witch 2 but not Blair Witch and including the remake of Dawn of the Dead but not the other Dead movies.
So why then did he include Alien and not the superior Aliens? Why not the Spielberg remake of War of the Worlds? And, yeah, why not Poltergeist?

Blair Witch, once I got used to the shaky cam thing, scared the crap out of me. And not one scene of gore or violence. Every bit of the horror was implied.

Very much like how i felt at PA. A lot of cheap pop, to steal a wrasslin' term. It was like the gore fest people decided they wanted to make a thriller and couldn't figure out a way to get anything truly scary so they just added a lot of slamming doors and footsteps in the hallway.
I kept waiting and waiting and waiting and then it was over.
Poltergeist should be on a list. It was very good and creepy.
Will M, some good things on your list there. Cabin Fever was fairly under rated/appreciated in my opinion.
Blair Witch was a solid film for the 'reality' time we live in now, and all the specials they had on Sci-Fi did enough to misdirect and confuse viewers into believing it might just be real. It was a great marketing campaign around that film.
Romero's zombie films [sorry gore haters] were fantastic, particularly Night of the Living Dead [shout out to my girl Kyra!] and Dawn of the Dead. They were both fear inducing and painful, not to mention the political and social agendas weaved within.
Dario Argento had some hits, but I found Suspiria to be lacking sorely. Maybe I was just too young to get it, I don't know. I sure do have a crush on Asia though.
All told there is a lot better horror out there than this list.

Thats another thing that bugs me about horror movies. I really think people confuse being startled with being scared or horrified. Its a common and annoying thing to have the movie be quiet then have some loud noise like a slamming door or something shattering. While watching paranormal activity, I kept going back to South Parks spoof of Cloverfield with Randy whispering, "I'm so startled."

Yeah, Poltergeist is another one that should be on there, but I think overexposure has watered it down a bit. It's still one of my favorites, and I have a memory of watching it in my college student center when, during a particular jump scene, a passing girl ended up in my lap...
And I loved the Hammer films when I was growing up.

Paranormal Activity suffered from too much hype. If you went into the theater expecting the scariest movie ever, it was a failure. If you went in with moderate expectations, it was a spooky, atmospheric film with some forgivable flaws.

I love Bruce & love Army of Darkness but IMO it isn't scary nor is it really a 'horror' film. i would call it more of an action/comedy set in a horror/dark fantasy setting.
It had in its cast on of my favorite actors of all time: Ted Raimi. I saw him at Dragon Con years ago. very humble. very funny even in real life. He even agreed to sing the 'Joxer the Mighty' song as long as the audience sang it with him.

I saw From Dusk Till Dawn. That was a fun horror film.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.
