And why is Jukich even getting starts there? Shouldn't they be breaking him into a (reliever) role that he might one day be able to contribute to the big club? Between Chapman, Wood, LeCure, Lehr, and what should be Klinker- not to mention some others, Ben Jukich should not be starting games in Louisville.

Like to see what Boxberger is doing. He is definitely the #1 pitching prospect in the system below the AAA level.
I think Jukich got the start because Maloney is likely to be back for the next start and they just needed a fill in. Of course I would have Klinker in AAA starting over Lecure or Lehr if it were up to me.

The Bats bats though.... struggling big time. Almost top to bottom outside of Cozart and Valaika, that line up is just not getting it done at all.

After three hitless innings from Daryl Thompson, followed by a rain delay, the Mudcats' bullpen--namely, Daryl Harang, Joe Krebs and the unsinkable Sean Watson--has given up nine runs over the following three. Sheesh.

Yeah, meant to have Maloney in there as well. I don't get what the purpose of having Lehr on that roster is anymore. Jukich is even worse, unless they plan on making him a reliever. There are ample "fill-in" candidates for the big league rotation if we need it between Maloney, Wood, and even LeCure.

Pretty sure Jukich is viewed as a reliever. Just a spot start because of Maloney's blister. Last year once everyone was in AAA, Jukich was in the bullpen until they needed spot starts here and there.

Is it possible for someone to actually hit .034? I hope Balentein's only had a handful of AB's! (I haven't bothered to look yet)

Of course it is possible. Balentien has only been playing for about a week. He couldn't play while he was passing through waivers. He has not looked good so far though, lots of poor contact thus far. He will hit better though, just needs to catch back up to everyone.

It's early, of course, but the Jordan-Smith-to-the-bullpen experiment is not working out particularly well for Carolina. For that matter, David Bell to the bullpen has been a pretty rough proposition, by and large.

Boxberger is looking pretty darn good so far this year.

This seems to be the trend lately. The Mudcats are having one disastrous inning a game. Watson has been garbage as his 27 ERA speaks for itself. Harang started the year pretty good but apparently he's headed south as well.
