Players in awe of hitting coach Griffey

    Article from the DDN:

DAYTON — It’s somewhat odd and ever so cool, Dayton Dragons players say, having Big Red Machine legend Ken Griffey as one of their coaches.

“When I found out, I was like, ‘Wow,’ ” catcher Mark Fleury said. “I brag about it to my friends back home (in Georgia). The name speaks for itself. He gets the biggest ovation at games.”

He was at the Bowling Green (KY) Hot Rods game a few weeks back. (The Hot Rods home opener was against the Dragons).
I was saddened by the fact that he got a small smattering of applause.

I also heard some college age guys and girls say "Oh, that guys Jr.'s dad."
Not to mention that he was almost run over by some girls in a dizzy bat race between innings down the first base line.

    They should be in awe.

He knows what he's talking about.

He's one of the best "clutch" hitters in the history of the game.

Junior got his "clutch" hitting from his Dad.
