You can talk about peripherals all you want, but Mez has, thus far, not gotten the job done at any level he's played.
Are you saying that despite his excellent start that you don't think he's a legit prospect?

    A+: .228 / .311 / .381

Those are bad numbers -- plain, flat-out, bad. You can spin it any way you like, but Mesoraco wasn't making good contact, he wasn't hitting for power, and he generally wasn't getting on base (though, in his defense, he was remarkably consistent in his inability to get on base, given that his OBP hasn't differed by more than a point since he turned professional).

Actually, what he did in both A and A+ given his age and the leagues, was about average. Now if you want to say 'he should be better than average given his draft spot', then that has some merit. But just compared to his other age comps at those same exact level/leagues, he was right in line with what you typically see.

Far too early to write the kid off, IMO. All I'm saying is that he's going to need to prove he can post a good statline for an entire year (which he hasn't done yet in his career), not just an entire month.

No argument there. The key with Mesoraco is the defense. If he can be a catcher at the major league level, the Reds have something. But reports suggested that until this spring people felt he'd have to find another position.

I don't know where you heard that, but last season the reports were good on his defense from everything I read or heard. Certainly needed improving, just like every 21 year old catcher does, but the reports all suggested that defensively he would be just fine.
