    Tuesday 05/04/10 Minor league Updates

The Carolina Mudacts will avoid the loss column today because they have the day off.

Klinker has been reactivated and is scheduled to start tomorrow night against Chattanooga in Carolina.

Daryl Harang has been assigned to Lynchburg to open a spot for Matt Klinker.

3 blown saves for Adkins, 32 going on 33, how long is he the closer with all the great arms around him ready to step up? He's kind of like the Luis Bolivar of the bullpen, ya know?

This is, IMHO, the most important story in our minor league system regarding a position player (Soto's that is, though I like Mes too.) Soto is getting back on track to being in Cinti by age 23, maybe earlier. He may yet get there earlier than a number of more highly touted people at AAA.

23 would be extremely optimistic, especially if he's going to play at least some catcher (and I assume he will play that position almost exclusively as he moves forward). If he and Mesoraco continue to hit as well as they have, two years from now, the Reds should have a nice duo behind the plate.

Logan Ondrusek should be closing in Louisville.

"You look at his numbers, and other than last year -- which was probably an aberration because maybe he was at a level too high to start out with, maybe because of (organizational) need -- and he's thrown up some pretty good numbers. We knew he was going to hit. He got off to a slow start here. But it's nice to see him get hot and stay hot." - Kelly on Soto

He's not closing in Louisville because the Reds don't want him as a closer. He's in the role he'll be in in Cincy.

Adkins did very well for the Bats in 2008, supposedly did very well in Korea in 2009, but seems to have really lost it.
