Perhaps we should keep a running GB total...
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

No Hanigan...but more importantly...no Janish. I really see a need for him with the groundballing Leake on the bump.
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner
    Hamilton ROY & GG

Nice pitch. Fukodome strikes out swinging. 2 outs.

There's just a sense of confidence with Leake. "I'm going to throw my stuff and whatever happens, happens." Hardly dominant, just quite effective.

Another great pitch. Lee strikes out looking on a pitch right on the outside corner. 0-0 mid 1st.

It doesn't matter how hard you throw. Movement on the outside black is tough to hit. Agreed on the Janish point.

    Cubs 1st:

    Theriot grounds out to Leake
    Fukudome strikes out swinging
    Lee strikes out looking

No score after one half inning.

    Leake at 16 pitches.

Yep. I still find it kind of incredible that there was so much debate on who should've made the club between Leake, Chapman & Wood. Control alone is the difference maker IMO.

Wow, what a horrible pitch to chase for the strike out. It bounced a foot wide of the plate...

Cabrera strikes out swinging on what would have been ball 4. 9 pitch AB.
