I have confidence that Arroyo, Rhodes and Cordero can finish this game.

Gotta have a reliever up no matter what in this type of game. They can turn quickly.

So, did he put himself out there in no-man's land by not keeping an eye on the SS in case the ball was hit to his left?

No, I am guessing he just assumed to his left it would be up the middle, probably didn't realize SS was shifting that far towards 2nd.

I hate when announcers speak of Gold Glove Awards (or anything like that) as if a past compliment is reflective of current conditions.

Just heard him talking about Votto "joining" Cabrera and Rolen as Gold Glove "potential" "great" defenders.

The days of Cabrera and Rolen being "great" defenders are long behind them, and for Cabrera, the days of him being an "average" Shortstop defensively is long behind him. At least Rolen still makes the plays he can get to. Cabrera's always been lazy, though, so I don't think he was ever a "great" defender, worthy of a Gold Glove.
