I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Justin Lehr is not going to start the AAA AS game this season.

    Code:
Player	IP	H	R	ER	BB	SO	HR	ERA
    Lehr 1.0	4	3	3	0	1	0	6.59

Francisco is not feeling well tonight. He was a late scratch.

Back to back hits for Frazier & Castillo.

    Sutton RBI single follows

    3-1 Bison

    Lehr with a 2-run double.

    All with 2-out.

    Tied up 3-3

You'd have to think that Lehr is pitching start to start now. Klinker should be in AAA within a month at most.

When you have too much talent at one position, these things always seem to have a way of playing themselves out.

Knowing this, the Votto/Alonso 1st Base thing will solve itself somehow.

Anyone want to claim Mesoraco as the #2 prospect in the org. yet?

If he finishes the year out at a .900+ OPS he is the #1 prospect in the Organization. Probably a Top 100 in Baseball.

pretty amazing turn around considering BA gave him nothing more than a sympathy nod at #30 last year. Dude's mashing.

Carolina just went up 8-3 in the top of the 10th. 3 run homer by Sappelt the latest blow.

He finished 4-for-5 with a double and a triple and also threw out a runner trying to steal.

Don't forget that Mesoraco was ready to move up a level defensively, but they kept him down here so that he could experience some positive long-term Offensive timing with his bat. He was ahead of his level physically, so it's not unexpected that he'd have this success. The REDS were expecting good Offense from him (though probably closer to an .820-.840 OPS), but Mesoraco's even done better than that.

He's not the #2 prospect at this time by any means. He's still got to go through the entire AA level from beginning to end both defensively (as a Catcher, the toughest level for a Catcher) and Offensively.

It's kind of a given that Mesoraco is going to be a hitter. With him, it's all about which position will he play.

I assume the REDS would like to let him keep his timing together through the end of June before moving him up to AA. That's how I would do it. He's had too little time this year under "good Offensive conditions" for it to stay with him to the next level. He needs more time where he's at so that the confidence Offensively can be rooted in him.

If he finishes as the best hitting prospect in the system and playing catcher hes probably way up the prospect list.
