Juan Francisco to miss minimum of four weeks due to emergency appendectomy

    From the Louisville Courier-Journal:

Louisville extended its season-best streak to four games — but did so without hot-hitting slugger Juan Francisco, who was a late scratch due to an appendectomy.

Bats manager Rick Sweet said the slugger would be out about “a minimum of four weeks.”

“He felt it this late morning,” Sweet said. “He told (trainer) Tomas (Vera), and all of a sudden he was done and started throwing up. He was in pretty bad shape.”

That sucks. He had been on a tear recently.

Wait you wanted Juan to be the lead off hitter for the Reds? Why on earth would you suggest that.

That does suck. I bought three of the four games the Bats will be in Durham in June/July. He needs to get back on the field soon.

as long as the appendix didn't rupture before it was removed he should recover just fine. he may even go home today. due to modern laparoscopic techniques there is less muscle cut to access the abdominal cavity & the recovery is much faster than say 20 years ago. the only reason Aaron didn't pitch last year after his appendectomy was because it was so late in the year

Hopefully he recovers quick so his trade value can go up before the deadline.

I wonder what kind of affect this will have on the organization in regards to outfielders being promoted. This'll probably mean that Burke gets most of the playing time in center for Louisville.

Just had mine done last fall and I was hitting golf balls a week later.

Three little incisions. One above the belly button, one directly through the belly button, and one on the waistline. I couldn't believe how simple it was.
