He's the kind of guy you bring up in September for a playoff run.

All his numbers could drop .50 points and still be a very good season for a catcher.

Dayton won 7-3. Mariekson Gregorius went 2-for-5 while Henry Rodriguez was 4-for-5. Donnie Joseph continued his dominant season by tossing a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts. His ERA is down to 1.15 with 5 BB/27 K in 15.2 innings.

Have to think Joseph will be headed out of there quickly.

Yep. He's too good for that league. I think there's an outside chance he could reach Cincy by September if the Reds need him.

That's a lot of ground to travel in a year. Hopefully by then we'll be getting some bullpen depth from Burton and maybe even Bray. But if Joseph can do it, more power to him. I liked that pick last year and am liking it more all the time.

    From the DDN:

DAYTON — Good news doesn’t often come in the middle of the night, unless you’re a minor-league baseball player.

So when Tommy Nurre — the newest member of the Dayton Dragons — found out just after midnight on Tuesday, May 11, that he’d been promoted, he of course wanted to share the news with his parents, Tom and Karen.

“I told (my mom) I was going home,” said Nurre, a former Miami University standout and graduate of St. Xavier High School. “Her first reaction was, ‘Oh, you got released.’ When I told her I was going to Dayton she was excited, woke my dad up and she made calls to the rest of my family.”

Once upon a time he was the #1 prospect in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in either 2001 or 2002. There was a belief he could be a 5 tool, 30/30 guy in the majors, but his strike zone judgement did not improve as he got older and his power never developed like they thought it would.

Really not a bad guy to have in AAA team though
