Re: Could N.L. Central become a two team race?

The Reds are 13-7 over their last twenty games.

The rest of the Central has let the cat out of the bag, allowing the Reds to gain some very important intangibles that help fuel the tangibles. The Reds players now believe and know that they can pitch, field, hit and score against these other guys, now they have confidence as a team. Dusty has done his homework and went and changed his lineup, the lineup that wasn’t suppose to matter.

The Reds are playing ten foot tall and bullet proof, and it did not come from a can of Bud Light.

Team and group synergy can achieve remarkable things.

    Code:
    Milwaukee 15 18 .455
    Pittsburgh 14 19 .424
    Chicago Cubs 14 20 .412
    Houston 11 21 .344
Those guys are showing what they are for reasons that they won’t be able to fix overnight.

Even the schedule looks good to go through the end of May. While June doesn’t look very challenging either.

Yeah, yeah weak opposing pitching has something to do with it too, who cares, the Reds are winning.

The secret is in the mud.

The St. Louis Cardinals might want to keep their checkbook, that has always helped make St. Louis gms appear great, at the ready.

I can't see a world where Jon Garland continues to pitch this well. I think that the Padres will fade and the Dodgers will replace them.

Other than Kershaw, the Dodgers' pitching is a mess.

Na, other than Kershaw the Dodgers pitching is a HOT MESS!

They will score runs with the best of them, but I don't know if you can slug your way to the post season. Also consider the divorce proceedings as well as the McCort's reluctance (or inability) to open up the pocket book.

Even Kershaw has been awfully inconsistent. He's got an unbelievable 27 walks issued in 38 innings. Imagine the outcry here if a Reds' pitcher were walking 6.4 batters per nine innings.

I just can't see the Cards pitching maintaining this pace. Nowhere close. They'll come back to the pack. However, that being said...I think their offense has underplayed thus far.
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner
    Hamilton ROY & GG

He has been, but he's also shown he can do it at the MLB level. But yeah, he's been no savior.

Cardinals losing 6-1 tonight. Bad Lohse took the mound tonight.

If this scores holds, the Reds will be 1 1/2 games out of first.

If the score holds the Reds will be 1 game out of first. The Reds are 19-15, if the Cards lose they'll fall to 20-14.
    I miss Adam Dunn.

The Cards are down 4 with three outs to go. Maybe the Pirates do stink but is Houston much better?

The Astros held on to beat the Cardinals 9-6. The Reds are now just one game behind the Cardinals for first place.

the Cards are likely to win tommorrow with Carpenter on the mound. so they should come into town 1.5 games ahead of the Reds. exciting. if the team plays well we could be 0.5 games back or even in 1rst place after Sundays game. i hope the team hits the field friday ready to play. it seems like the Cards bring out the worst in us. time to turn that around.

So the winner of this weekends 3 games series will stand alone at the top of the N.L. Central Standings?

Not necessarily. If the Cards win tomorrow the Reds would have to sweep to take over first.
