Oh crap! It's a DAY GAME!

Sac by Bailey. Hanigan to third.

Hannigan's play thus far, combined w/ Meseraso's development in the minors, certainly makes the future of the Catcher spot much brighter in Cincy that its been in a while. Well on paper anyways.
The hits keep on falling.
Single for O-Cab makes it 4-0.

Cabrera drives in his 17th run. 4-0 Reds. I'm liking this.

if anyone complains about the Reds announcers they have no idea how bad it is in Pittsburgh...
Crosby missed Cabrera's pop up by 5 feet but he dove for it, "Good effort by Crosby there, Good effort."
I am in favor of giving Homer much run support.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
If Bailey pulls a Homer with this early lead, that would be Bad. With a capital B.
I have absolutely nothing against Ramon Hernandez and am actually glad they brought him back as he's a good mentor, but I still can't understand what it's going to take for Hanigan to win the job. Good hitter that gets on base a ton, excellent catcher, throws base runners out and calls a great game. What's not to like about him?
"No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference." ~Tommy Lasorda
Okay, I'm caught up. Nice start to the game. I love it. What was that, a 6 pitch 1st inning from Homer?
Don't look now, but last night's offensive explosion put the starting eight above average in terms of OPS.
And that includes Drew Stubbs' 50 OPS+.
The difference between this year and last? Fewer offensive black holes. At this time last season, EdE, AGon, and Hernandez were all struggling, with Taveras soon to swoon in a major way. This season, the only position that's really struggling is CF.
Good news is that CF should improve (if only because Dickerson can't be as bad as he's been, and Heisey may steal some PT if he continues to hit), as should Phillips (a little) and Gomes (based on last year and continued intelligent usage).
Bad news is that Votto, Hernandez, and Rolen are all due at least slight payback.
