Brad Boxberger named to Carolina League All-Star team

    From Jamie Ramsey's blog:

    BOXBERGER: ALL-STAR

Congratulations to Lynchburg's Brad Boxberger, who yesterday was named to the Carolina League All-Star team...Boxberger is currently 4-5 with a 3.20 ERA in 12 starts...he ranks 9th in the league in ERA and 3rd with a 9.91 strikeout per 9.0 innings ratio...Boxberger, 22, was the Reds supplemental first-round pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft (43rd overall) out of the Univ. of Southern Cal...The California League vs Carolina League All-Star Game will take place on 6/22 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

I will be at this game. Is there a finalized list yet? Will Boxberger be the only Reds prospect?

It isn't finalized because guys may still be promoted, opening a spot for others.... but it looks like Boxberger will be the only Red there for now. Mesoraco would have made the team as well, but was promoted so he misses out. Kind of surprised that Puckett didn't make it.

Here are the back up 2B/INF guys compared to Puckett:
    Code:
    	        PA AB 2B 3B HR BA/OBP/SLG/OPS
    Greg Milcat	153	132	8	0	1	.303/.391/.386/.777
    Jon Gilmore	282	263	7	3	3	.327/.356/.411/.767
    Cody Puckett	232	199	22	3	7	.276/.351/.523/.873

I wouldn't mind seeing Boxberger promoted to Double-A Carolina after the Carolina League All-Star Game. As of today, Boxberger has posted the following stats: 56.1 IP, 52 hits, 2 HR allowed, 17 BB/62 K, 1.54 GO/FO, 3.20 ERA, 2.68 BB/9, 9.79 K/9. Oh, and his BABIP against is .347.

Hes been pitching pretty well. Id like to see him promoted also. Maybe after a few more picks or something sign and get in place it could happen.
