Not offended, but I have been a little irritated by the other non-Reds posts in this thread too, and Kobe was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

    But it's cool.

Well, honestly, the thread started as tracking the Reds' magic number. I think we can all agree to let people just enjoy this thread as the number shrinks, and I don't think it requires seeing 10 pictures of Johnny Bench to have fun with it.

Just my opinion. But I'm enjoying seeing some of the creative, Non-Reds' pictures being posted. Let's have fun with it for what it is.

I was hoping that only pics of Johnny Bench would be posted for "5". But it just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter! It just doesn't matter!!!

But if you divide by 10 it still works. I never said I was a math major

Not to be a downer, but this number 5 helped the Reds win the pennant in '40, but wasn't around for the playoffs. Couldn't find a picture of his uniform number, though.

During one point in the 1940 season, Hershberger got to play a few games in a row after Lombardi got banged up. Hershberger blamed himself for a few of the losses during that stretch and sadly committed suicide August 3, 1940.

The Reds ended up winning the World Series that year and donated a portion of their championship winnings to Hershberger's mother...
Bump. No pic of the number, tixe (my bad) but here is the backstory courtesy Reds Freak.
