He got looser after the first, like a lot of power pitchers. He spotted his fastball much better from the second inning on. They got no good swings at him after the three hits in the first, frankly. One hit only in the second through seventh for Bailey. It was dominant.

Sick to my stomach, actually, that they did not get him some runs.

Usually takes a year to get control back. usually. Liriano has been filthy this year, but struggled last year. Maybe Volquez will do better.

TRF, I don't think it's too soon. I think Leake is special.

Maybe I'm just a tad jaded, having not seen solid pitching since '99. but it is just 7 career starts. I'm cautious.

I'm not ready to give up on Stubbs and don't think Alonso is ready yet.

I'd like to see Heisey get more AB's and be given chance to stick in LF though.

Pretty good outing by Bailey BTW.
School's out. What did you expect?

meh, he got a groundball that should have been an out to SS from escobar, and then was rightfully careful with braun.

If Dusty is only going to just use him occasionally off the bench, he needs to be in AAA starting everyday.

He was even better his second pass against the Cubs, and sure didn't shrink from a big moment last Saturday in front of a sold out crowd in what felt like a must-win against Wainwright. That was pretty nails from the kid. I really do think he's got a little something that is happily wonderful in his make-up.
