Saturday I was at my friend's house and he said, yo vp, take a look at this. He had just opened the garbage can at noticed right at the top, amongst the throwaways from the grill trimmings, a particular slice of onion. He showed it to me an I squealed, because this onion is quite freakishly the shape of a Reds C. I said I was going to put it on ebay and took it home. Didn't think much of it in any kind of superstitious sense, especially given the 14-7 drubbing the Reds had just suffered the day before.

Dang team hasn't lost a game since. Do I have a magical onion slice? I think maybe I do. (My friend is so upset with himself. He is a Pirates fan.)

Obviously the Reds have to lose at some point, so I am trying to assign another deeper meaning to the onion. Maybe the Reds won't lose to the pirates again this year? Or maybe ever?

Tip of the cap to TheNext44 for dubbing it "Rally Onion"! :O)
    2014 predictions:

Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner

Dangit, now I have to redo that whole 3 hour chem lab Thursday. Thats what I get for looking at my phone after Rolen hit his HR and getting a bit too excited.

Btw, TRF, SportsCenter used the phrase Domo Arigato *something* *something* Votto Votto. Not exactly your phrase, but close. Can't remember what they said inbetween.

Better question is who are these Reds and what have they done with their crappy team?

As if posters on RZ ENJOY the Reds sucking or something...

I need the constant sucking, if they keep winning then I will lose my sarcasm, and that's all I got.

Some fans are like Ernie Banks, always smiling, while others are like Rodney Dangerfield and hate getting no respect and bemoan the team they love. It takes all kinds. But we are all Reds fans and yes, we hate the Reds sucking. Right now, they aren't sucking, but after 10 years of them really sucking, it's hard to be positive sometimes. I think I've made it back, but a decade of the Bob Boones, Dave Mileys, Ryan Freels, Edwin Encarnacions, Jerry Narrons, Jerry Hairston, Jrs, Willy Taverases, and Corey Pattersons almost ruined me. And if you were positive about that, then maybe you are related to Mr. Banks (remember he's a Cub) ...

There used to be 4 stations carrying the Reds in radio range and the closest one is now WCHS in Charleston--80 miles away) and went nuts. My staff almost called for an ambulance.

The game thread missed your usual 9th inning optimism for Reds pitchers. :-)

I'm getting some serious 1999 vibes. This team is athletic, young, can pitch, can field, and is thriving when it comes to timely hits. And Scott Rolen is quickly turning into the Greg Vaughn/Barry Larkin type of veteran leader this team has needed.

It could be a magical summer in Cincinnati.

How much interest would there be in a game thread for Cardinals games?I know I'm tracking what's going on pretty closely with them and occasionally see updates throughout RZ.Probably a better idea when the Reds aren't playing at the same time but thought I'd see what people think.

By the way the Cards are currently leading 2-1 in the bot of the 6th.
