He mentioned something about something he saw wrong w/ a particular batter the other day, perhaps Votto.

I'm not savy enough to know how accurate these observations are, but rather than just saying that a player is struggling, he's often able to point to a specific issue w/ the player at the time that is different than his normal self.
Pretty much agree with everything you said. His pbp isn't always great, but his analysis and insight usually is. My favorite thing to hear though, is when he makes some generalization that sounds good but isn't really true, then Marty calls him out on it.

I don't know what Gomes was doing on that one. Gomes singles to right as Hart missed the ball as he dived for it. Gomes on first and Votto on third. Gomes was almost out as he was going back to first.

We need one of those clutch seeing eye singles by OCab right here.

Parra at 61 pitches. Brantley said he was on a 70 to 80 pitch count. So maybe one more inning from him.

In my opinion of all the Reds radio broadcasters Brantley is at the bottom of the totem pole.

I think he does the analysis thing better on TV than radio for the most part. He's awful at play by play. I was in my car on Sunday and there was a fly ball that Bruce and Stubbs went after and almost collided and Brantley didn't say whether it was an out or not. That used to drive me crazy with Joe too so I'm not just picking on Brantley.

76 pitches for Homer. At this rate maybe two more innings for him.

I never get to watch the game on tv so I'll take your word for it, but that would make sense.

I remember a call by Joe in one of his last years calling games, "And there's a base hit to left-right-center field!"
