Homer made some adjustments. The Indians seemed to be swinging more there but that's a much better inning.

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

Homer takes an inning to get rolling. The second he's usually facing bottom of the order, by the third he's in his groove if he's going to find it. Lots of pitchers in baseball history had first inning woes. Coming out and mowing down the other team's best guys right out of the gate is one of the hardest things about starting. If Tom Seaver's career was made up of just the first innings, he wouldn't sniff the hall of fame.

If Homer struggles in the third when the top of the order comes back around, then its time to worry IMO.

I have the MLB.tv game on mute, but when the commercial comes on, the sound comes back on.

I think fans tend to see their guy get pinched. Heck we've blamed his poor location on a hit on Homer being pinched... see what I'm getting at? Huff has thrown 76% strikes through 2 innings. That's a weird thing to do if blue has a shifty zone IMHO.

When an ump calls one pitch a ball and another pitch in the exact same spot a strike...that's inconsistent. And he's done it several times already. No conspiracy...just poor umpiring.

Check out gameday. Compare these locations.

    pitch 1 to Cabrera
    pitch 1 to Gomes
    pitches 1,3,5 to Crowe
    pitch 1 to Duncan

    pitch 3 to Bruce
    pitch 1 to Heisey
    pitch 2 to Hanigan

    pitch 1 to Phillips
    pitch 1 to Rolen

Those explain my point. But back to the game....Phillips with a 2 bagger!
