    5/27/2010 versus Pirates

    Cabrera ss
    Cairo 1b
    Phillips 2b
    Rolen 3b
    Bruce rf
    Gomes lf
    Stubbs cf
    Hernandez c
    Cueto p

From Rotoworld via REDS Twitter w/ Rotoworld comments:

Joey Votto is out of the lineup for a second straight day.

When it was announced that Miguel Cairo was starting at first base on Wednesday it was assumed that Votto was simply getting a day off, but it turns out that he is currently dealing with a stiff neck. He's considered day-to-day.

Looks like Baker's leaving all of his chips on the table and seeing if he can hit another Double-Zero with Cairo batting second.

    Per Fay Twitter

Just talked to Votto. He is better. Asked if could pinch-hit: Totally up to Dusty.

Let's hope the Reds bats come alive and rock this Morton guy with his 8.71 ERA. He has pitched better of late but how could he not?

I'm worried about Joey, he is the key to how far we can go

on the other hand, we are facing possibly the worst starter in the NL. We need to jump on them early.

You look at his career numbers in search of something to hang your hat on, something to justify (or maybe even rationalize) his being on the club and there is simply nothing there.

It did work out last night, however, so maybe lightning will strike twice in the same series.

Have you ever hit the same number twice in a row on the Roulette table? That's what we're asking for here from Cairo.

I'm expecting 5 AB's w/ 3 K's and two ground outs. I don't think Cairo gets the ball out of the infield today, even against that bad pitcher

I'd like to know why Hernandez is no longer the backup 1B.

I thought he did a decent job of it before. Any ideas?

He wore down last year after being asked to take Votto's place in August. He ended up with chronic injuries, too, last summer. Maybe they're thinking of that. He's not young and has caught a lot of games in his career. He's probably limited to 120 games on a season even without a DL stint.

    Just my guess.

Let's all hope Cairo goes down when LeCure comes up tomorrow.
