It's a good response, knowing the Cardinals won earlier today. Unless Lecure and bullpen collapse, we're looking good today.

2nd time this homestand I thought Rolen had a home run that just didn't carry out to LF.

It's so nice seeing the rewards come through from O'Brien and Krivsky. Those two were very patient with completely rebuilding from scratch the entire organization.

With Walt keeping the prospects in tact and not going crazy trying to dump all of the work that was done by his predecessors, the REDS are reaping the rewards right now. Walt just had to tweak a couple of things and leave the rest alone. His replacement of EE with Rolen was solid, while he grabbed the best SS (even if he is old) available in Free Agency last year. Adding Chapman and drafting Leake were huge moves.

What's great about watching all of this, is that Jockety has shown the willingness to be patient with his "prospects" and has handled them appropriately throughout the organization. I didn't think he had it in him when he got here because he was so used to winning by buying the hottest free agent on the market every year in St. Louis. Here, he had to do it through patience and minor tweaks, picking very carefully where the money was spent.

Jay Bruce already has 1032 Plate Appearances as a Major Leaguer.

    Amazing.

His OPS is 66 points higher right now than what he ended up with last season (and 72 points higher than the year before). He's improving. And, he just turned 23 eight weeks ago.

Stubbs was boned a little that AB. Oh well they are winning by a ton right now. Hopefully the umps decision of trying to end that inning doesnt come back to bite us.

I think he'll be alright at some point, but it seems like every time Drew seems to take a step up at the plate one night, he's striking out like crazy the next one.

Although the umpire gave Chacin a "mercy strike". That 3-0 pitch was borderline as to whether or not it hit the outside corner, and it was about shoulder high.

    Can you say, "Rookie"?

Next year he'll have his "Sophomore Slump". Or, maybe that's this year.

Anyways, he has to go through these ups and downs, just like Bruce. Bruce has fewer downs now.

Next year, Stubbs will have fewer downs.

Looks like LeCure might get through 6 innings w/ minimal damage. That's really good for a Major League debut.

No, I can't say rookie, because Stubbs had 180 AB's last year.

There have always been questions on how he would hit at the major league level... a lot more questions than there were with Bruce.

I do think he has the talent to do so though.
