Well, the 28 out perfect game meme seems to be catching on if Twitter is any indication...

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

You would stop watching baseball if they had a conference after that call and came out with a thumb in the air saying game over?

They've never heard of Harvey Haddix, apparently.
All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.

NFL is unwatchable with all the delays, challenges, and crap. So, yeah. Take a slow game and make it slower? No thanks.

    My thoughts exactly.

BTW that same night the CWS had aliens invade their infield.

No doubt it's unwatchable, fact is the 1st base ump was on top of the play, made his call. No guy in the OF will overrule that, the 1st base ump was on top of it.

His call, life's tough, that's why there's so few of them.

What's unwatchable is crappy refs and umpires.

I'd rather have a slow game than one played quicker but with the wrong outcome.

Ill bet Galaragga would have rather stood out there an extra 5 minutes and had his perfect game.

Love the purists: they enjoy the bad calls, 20 feet wide strike zones...it's really fun to get things wrong...

Roy Halladay gets an extra half-foot on the strike zone becuase he's Roy Halladay.

Maybe tennis should abandon the electronic line judge when Roger Federer plays because he's "Roger Federer."

NFL unwatchable? That's not what the ratings say...

Agree 100% Dom. The players should determine the outcome. The umps are only there to ensure that they are able to do so. When and if technology can take the place or reasonably supplement the "human element" in umpiring, it should.

I have no problem with using electronic mechanisms to get the call right. I just don't want slow games. I'm all for whatever gets it right and doesn't bore me.

Baseball is the greatest game of all, but the NFL is incredibly entertaining and baseball could learn a thing or two from how it operates.

As for the impact of replay on the speed of the game, have the call made in the booth and announced by the crew chief and it could be done in 90 seconds, tops.

You're largely missing the point. Open the game up to conferences, and games get longer and longer. I'm not talking about one incident.
