Was it just me or was Votto playing really far from the line on that considering there was a lefty at the plate?

Yep. Thought the same. He's been cheating a lot into the hole there. That was part of the reason for the error on the Kershaw grounder. He was so far away he couldn't get back.

Gomes was on Jim Rome today. I caught the last two minutes of it. Rome found him Jungle-ishious...or whatever his coolness calls it.

Hernandez more interested in watching the ball than running to first. Cost himself a shot at a double.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I wonder if he was positioned there on his own volition or if Dusty asked him to play that far off the line?

Looked safe to me. At least on those angles.

Ump at a real bad angle for that kind of a swipe tag. Sure would love to have a booth ump help out on that one...

Just really can't catch a break, if he's called safe the tying run is on second for Phillips.

Even Dodger announcers thought he was safe. Oh well.

He might've been safe but why send the slowest guy on a close play like that?

I would've sent him, they haven't scored in seemingly forever and your up against Manny whose not exactly Vlad in the outfield.
