Schedule for Thursday (06/17/2010) and Minor League Updates

Louisville is going tonight at 7:05 ET against Durham. They send Chad Reineke (2-5 2.90 ERA) to the mound.

Carolina is testing Mississippi today at 7:15 ET. Travis Wood (2-4 4.97 ERA) gets the assignment.

Lynchburg is going to double up with Kinston starting at 6:05 ET. Edinson Volquez (0-0 0.00 ERA) starts the first game and Pedro (?) Serrano (2-4 3.62 ERA) hurls in the nightcap.

Dayton starts the proceedings at 7:05 ET versus Fort Wayne. Justin Walker (1-8 5.32 ERA) will be throwing. NOTE: Walker has a 59/9 K/BB rate. Nice. But has given up 10 home runs. Not so nice.

VSL Reds and DSL Reds both play at 10:30 AM ET.

I really hope you meant Travis Webb because Travis Wood pitched Tues for the Bats.....

Volquez with 3 perfect innings (2 K's) so far.

    2-0 Lynchburg. Pucket's 9th HR (2-run shot).

    Don't know how many pitches.

Volquez hit a batter in the 4th, but has 3 strikeouts in 4 hitless innings.

What are the REDS going to do with all of their "capable" starting pitching in August?

    Volquez
    Chapman
    Wood
    Maloney
    Klinker
    LeCure

All of those guys with ability with no place to go.

(I put LeCure there because I assume Bailey retakes his spot when he's back and they choose to retain LeCure's value as a starter.)

Volquez struck out the first batter of the 5th inning. Cody Puckett's 2 run HR is the only scoring play of the game.

Volquez gives up a single on a weak grounder to second base.

Just an infield single to 2nd Base.

I completely didn't expect Volquez to pitch this well this soon.

I so hope he completes this rehab 100% healthy.

That's as good as news as we have gotten for some time.
