Watch out, the Cubs are heating up!

The Cubs are emerging as a solid 3rd place team in the Central right now, only 6 1/2 games out. 7-2 against NL West teams ain't too shabby. Walt had much do something drastic, and quick.

EDIT: actually the Cubs are emerging as a solid SECOND place team in the NL Central. I'm a little worried.

They are in 3rd place and not really even close right now.

"Watch out, the Cubs are heating up!"

    The proverbial Cubs' chant.

I realize that there is a lot of baseball left to be played, but 6 1/2 games in the standings is fairly substantial. When and if the Cubs get to within 1-3 games then I think it's time to be concerned.

... And I'm still not worried about any other team except the Cardinals in this division.

I bet Tony LaRussa can't sleep nights. Only 6 up on the Cubbies.

The Central is a two-team race. I'll start sweating the Cubbies when they pass either Cincy or St. Louis for second.
I hate the Cardinals. I hate the Cubs.

I don't get how they're heating up. Haven't they been 6 1/2 out for basically the whole season?

If they're heating up, don't worry.......give it time........sweet Lou will cool them down.

Always remember..........they're the Cubbies. They will never win anything.

Re: Watch out, the Cubs are heating up!

When "Back to the Future, II" came out and they were in the future and it flashed on a sign that the World Series Champion Cubs beat the Miami Gators (there were no inclinations of ever having a Major League baseball team in Florida at the time), since then two Florida teams have been added, who have both won World Series, while the Cubs still can't even get to the show.

The Cubs will never win again.

Marmol was throwing gas yesterday, he was wild but he looked good. The A's showed no fight in the game yesterday, imo.

Maybe my memory is faulty, but my observation has been that the other teams have begun to slip and the Cubbies are still hanging around. That combined with the fact that Reds have had the wheels come off lately just has me worried a little.
