    6-18-10 Reds vs Mariners

    Announcing your DH, Miguel Cairo!

    SS Cabrera
    2B Phillips
    1B Votto
    3B Rolen
    LF Gomes
    CF Heisey
    RF Bruce
    CA Hernandez
    DH Cairo

    SP Cueto RHP

Seriously Dusty? You couldn't have a great defensive OF and Gomes DH?
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

This is easily the worst move of the year. Seriously, why in the hell would you DH Cairo?
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

These 2 games against these 2 pitchers are going to tell me a lot.

And while on the subject of Cliff Lee...under what scenario does a guy with an ERA of around 5 over 4 years suddenly become a no-doubter top-5 pitcher in the league. Anyone know the story on that?

Wonder if tonight's game isn't Heisey's shot. A nice performance and I think we'd see him starting tommorrow.

No idea. But FOUR walks so far this year. That's it...4.

Either what you are suggesting or since Cabrera was mentioned in that article as having some type of injury, have him DH and Janish play SS

Cairo at DH is beyond my ability to comprehend.

I don't think your manager believes in OBP or defense now.

All players need starts and this is a good spot for Cairo, given his history against Lee.

For curiosity sake I'd like to see Stubbs against CL, but I can't knock a manager for DHing Cairo who's had sucess, albeit limited, against a top shelf pitcher.

    Re: 6-18-10 Reds vs Mariners

Since I was supposed to start this GT to continue the Reds winning streak, this is the best I can do:

*THIS TEXT IS MY OFFICIAL START TO THE GAME THREAD*

There we go. I'll see if that's enough.

I should be able to do PBP again tonight.

Don't know, but it does appear that Heisey has changed his batting stance which I think is essential for him to have any success at this level. The other night when he homered he seemed to have held his hands lower and dropped his bat from the vertical position it had been previously. Or maybe I was drunk.
