The only other real option for DH is Heisey with Stubbs in CF. And I can understand the way Stubbs has been hitting, or not hitting lately, why Baker would want to give him a day off.

And I have stopped underestimating Cairo this season.

Edit: The only real option for DH is Heisey with Stubbs in CF. I don't want anyone to think that I think that Cairo is a "real" option for DH.

Carpenter leaves them loaded in the first, but gives up 4 in the 2nd, Cards down 4-2 after 2.

Cairo's going to go yard to left field. Long.
School's out. What did you expect?

I don't care if Cairo has 5 hits or not against Lee. Gomes should be DH today with Stubby in center and Hi-C in left

Things you will never see......Aaron Harang just leapt up to reach over the fence and rob BP of a homerun in bp. Stunning...and the crowd went wild

And any past success against Lee is pretty irrelevant. He's a completely different pitcher since the last time most of these guys faced him.

Not saying that this is the case now, but it seems like whenever the "obvious" doesn't happen (ie Ramon pinch hitting over Nix) there is a reason why it goes down like that. Maybe Stubbs is battling something or maybe he is struggling and needs a blow (like when you have a .625 OPS over the last two weeks).

    Or...maybe not. From Fay.

“Against this guy, Cairo is one of the few ones with success,” Baker said. “That’s the only way I could get Cairo in there without taking someone else out.

Cairo - 3-4 with a triple and a ribbie against Lee in 2008 (when he was 22-3 with a 2.54 ERA).

If I could get odds on a Cairo multi-hit game tonight, I'd be all over it. He does his best when RZ busts out the venom.

    It's 9 atbats.

It's too small a sample to even be a small sample size. It's a micro sample size.

    A mini sample size?
    Tiny sample size?

    Itty bitty?

It's two games worth of at bats.

I got PBP for the 1st 3 innings. Then you're on your own.

A's and Cardinals are now tied 4-4 in the 5th with the Cardinals still batting.
