    6/21- Reds @ A's

    Brandon Phillips 2b

    Paul Janish ss

    Joey Votto 1b

    Scott Rolen 3b

    Jonny Gomes lf

    Drew Stubbs cf

    Chris Heisey rf

    Miguel Cairo DH

    Ramon Hernandez c

    Mike Leake p

vs. LHP Gio Gonzalez (6-5, 4.21)

I don't feel too bad about this lineup except the part where Stubbs bats 6th.

I've got PBP. I'll be doing what I was trying to do Thursday when I first started doing PBP again: Break the Reds out of a funk. They've got to get the bats goin' tonight.

No Bruce and Cairo as DH? No me gusto. Is Gonzalez that tough against lefties that you'd rather have Cairo and deal with Gomes defense when you could've gotten him out of there?
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Bruce needs to regroup. His swing is kind of screwed up these days.

With Bruce & Cabrera getting the day off, Dusty's choices for DH consisted of Nix, Corky and Cairo. Going with Cairo leaves us with at least a somewhat potent bat on the bench for PH duties. Getting Hanigan back would be a nice boost (as would getting somebody up here who can replace Cairo.)

    How about letting Leake bat?

Yes he can. But if he does then the Reds can't use a DH. Further, you are not allowed to PH for a DH IIRC.
School's out. What did you expect?

Yes, you can PH for the DH, the PH becomes the new DH.

They need to either use it in both leagues or get rid of it. I prefer get rid of it.
